No. Curalern Health is an independent educational platform. We explain how healthcare and health cover work in South Africa so that you can ask better questions. We do not sell products, and we do not select, compare, recommend or advise which product or package is suitable for you.

What happens when I send a general enquiry?

A general enquiry is exactly that: we use your details to respond to your question with educational information. It is not an application, it is not a quotation request, and it does not guarantee acceptance, approval or cover of any kind. A general enquiry is not automatically passed on to any product provider.

Can Curalern arrange for someone to contact me about products?

Accepted Answer

Not through a general educational enquiry. Separately, a visitor may expressly ask for product information. Where you make that request and consent to it, the relevant details you provide may be shared with a clearly identified product provider so that its representative can contact you about products, options and the quotation or application process. You will always be told who will receive your information and who will contact you before that happens.

What is the difference between a medical scheme and health insurance?

They are governed by different laws and work in fundamentally different ways. Medical schemes pool member contributions to fund healthcare benefits according to their registered rules, while health insurance provides defined healthcare-related benefits according to the terms and conditions of an insurance policy. Often from the difference between the rate a provider charges and the rate at which a benefit pays, or from co-payments attached to specific procedures. Understanding these mechanisms in advance is one of the most useful things you can do.
